Designing and maintaining manuals used daily across restaurants to support operations, service and kitchen workflows.
Overview.

As an in-house Visual Designer at AmRest, a multinational restaurant group operating across Europe, I worked for 3 years on La Tagliatella (restaurant chain).

The brand relies on operational manuals to standardise protocols across all restaurants. These tablet-based manuals are used daily by hundreds of employees and cover recipes, service protocols, equipment handling and quality standards, helping staff access clear, easy-to-follow guidance in their day-to-day work.

Scope.
  • Tablet-based UI design

  • Information hierarchy & clarity

  • Iconography & visual systems

  • Content structuring

  • Continuous iteration & updates

Tools.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Articulate 360

My role.
  • Designed and maintained operational manuals across all La Tagliatella restaurants in Spain and Portugal

  • Transformed complex processes into clear, visual instructions for daily use

  • Translated and adapted content for Spain and Portugal

  • Tested and validated usability directly in restaurant environments

  • Managed continuous updates to keep the system aligned with operational changes

Impact.

The system improved clarity and usability in day-to-day operations, enabling staff to quickly understand processes and act with confidence in high-pressure environments.

It scaled across multiple restaurant locations, supporting consistency and standardisation in daily operations.

The work was aligned with company-wide KPIs through a cascading model, ensuring design decisions supported broader operational goals.
